Restore your Vision – Safer & More Precise
Laser cataract surgery is the latest technology designed to replace the initial stage of cataract eye surgery, called a capsulotomy.
Standard cataract surgery involves the surgeon making an incision into the crystalline lens of the eye to remove the cloudy lens. Advances in laser technology now enable us to complete this stage of the process with better surgical accuracy, resulting in a better visual outcome.
At KindSIGHT in Brisbane, we use the CAPSULaser which can create an accurate circular capsulotomy in less than a second.
CAPSULaser laser energy is delivered continuously, as opposed to a pulsed beam which can create tissue bridges. The CAPSULaser creates a smoother, stronger, more consistently even incision that is more predictable and tear-resistant. It is also 1.5 times stronger, and therefore safer. The end result will be perfectly matched to your intraocular lens (IOL) meaning your visual outcome will be optimised based on the best technology can offer. This is why laser cataract technology is fast becoming a trend in modern cataract surgery.
These advances in technology mean we can better tailor a vision solution to match your work and leisure activities to a far greater degree than ever before. Along with choosing the right intraocular lens (IOLs), the accuracy of laser cataract surgery will improve your chances of achieving better reading and distance vision without glasses.

WHY LASER CATARACT SURGERY?
- Patient-specific customisation of premium intraocular lens (IOLs) for improved quality of vision
- Improved accuracy and safety
- Enjoy greater independence and freedom from glasses
THE BENEFITS OF CAPSULaser for LASER CATARACT SURGERY?
- Improved visual outcomes due to precise customised surgery design matching selected IOL
- Non-Invasive – No Blade Laser Precision
- Demonstrated superior consistency in creating lens capsulotomy, which is a key step in safe cataract surgery)
- Removes the possibility of surgeon error
- Fast only takes 1 second of laser time
Precise capsulotomy size, circularity and position every time
WHAT HAPPENS DURING LASER CATARACT SURGERY USING CAPSULaser?
As a patient, you will be positioned under the operating microscope, where a capsule staining dye will be injected into the anterior chamber. The dye, known as Trypan Blue, will sensitise the capsule to laser energy, and assist in creating a very accurate selective capsulotomy.
The surgeon is in control at all times. Once the surgeon has determined the location for treatment, the focused laser is activated and it describes a circle in about one second to create the capsulotomy. The accuracy of this circle enables the IOL to be placed in the perfect position thereby improving your vision outcome.
The CAPSULaser itself is a small ergonomic device that becomes part of the operating microscope that integrates seamlessly into the surgeon’s workflow. Unlike other laser cataract systems, for example, the femtosecond laser, there is no need for you to be moved during the procedure to other rooms or equipment. This applies as the capsulotomy takes place at the OR microscope.
HOW MUCH DOES LASER CATARACT SURGERY COST?
Laser cataract surgery, using the CAPSULaser, is a small additional charge above the standard cost. The actual cost will vary depending on your health insurer, or if you are a pensioner or uninsured.
